Israel-Hamas War
Blogger's Note: I support Israel's right to exist. I also support our right to criticize the Israeli Government, just as I support our right to criticize our own government. -- Les Govment
Blogger's Note: Sometime after writing this article, I read claims by some that the Israeli Government did the attack on the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. I can't verify whether or not that claim is true, but I think that it's worth the mention here. -- Les Govment
ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR
This is not acceptable

There was absolutely no justification for the attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023. And Israel, of course, has a right to defend itself against such attacks.
But Israel's response to those attacks has not been one of defense; rather, the response has mainly been a ruthless offensive that has killed or maimed and displaced a huge portion of the people of the Gaza Strip.
Since Israel has a history of doing indiscriminate bombings, I wasn't surprised when the Israeli Government-- led by Benjamin Netanyahu-- started its massive bombings in October, hitting a huge number of civilian locations in the process.
There simply is no moral justification for bombing civilian locations.
In an effort to justify Israel's bombings, some say that the death and destruction in civilian areas in Gaza "is on Hamas." But they are wrong. In any armed conflict, both sides have a moral obligation to not target civilians. You can't drop bombs on known civilian locations and claim you're not targeting civilians.
Some say that the people of Gaza deserve what's been happening the last 4 months because "a huge majority of them voted for Hamas." Fact: Fewer than half (about 44%) of Gazans voted for Hamas in the last election in 2006. As of 2023, nearly half of all Gazans were born after the 2006 elections (about 40% of Gazans are under 14 years of age). So, as of 2023, less than 22% of all Gazans (counting adults and kids) had actually voted for Hamas.
Over the last 4 months, the vast majority of those suffering from the Israel-Hamas War are Palestinian civilians, about half of them minors.
That's actually worse than unacceptable; it's despicable. //
