VICTIMS IN GAZA
Bombing civilians is never justifiable

In my article, "The Left's Authoritarian Slippery-Slope" (composed in late 2016), I stated this:
"It has become apparent that many on the left haven't learned the full lesson from the Nazis' "cleansing" of German society. While it was clearly wrong for the Nazis to specifically target Jews and gays (and others), it's a mistake to be overly focused on the Nazis' racism or on the specific groups that were targeted. The full lesson to be learned is that targeting any group for mistreatment (or extermination) is detestable."
Flash forward to 2023-2024.
Over the last 14 months, many American conservatives and Christians have argued that the Israeli Government's bombings of civilian areas in Gaza are justified. Those bombings have killed about 40,000 Gazans, the huge majority of them civilians (roughly 40% of them 14 years of age or younger). The bombings have also displaced a huge number of Gazans, and left many of them without enough food, and now vulnerable to winter weather.
Their circumstances are quite grim.
That Jews in the past were victims of an evil regime is irrelevant to the present. Like people of any race or ethnic group, Israelis/Jews are not immune to becoming ruthless oppressors. The whole world has seen that the Jewish leaders of Israel have been unjustifiably ruthless toward the people of Gaza.
I can only conclude that the conservatives and Christians who support Israel's bombings have not learned the full lesson from the Nazis' "cleansing" of German society.
Bombing civilian areas is never justifiable.
The Israeli Government has a moral obligation to stop bombing civilian areas. Likewise, conservatives and Christians have a moral obligation to stop supporting the bombings. //
