War Crimes in Gaza

Blogger's note: I am a deist, but I am familiar with the Bible-- I've read it from cover to cover. Also, let me make myself clear here: I oppose Hamas and condemn any attacks on Israel.

WAR CRIMES IN GAZA

Christians should oppose bombing civilians

Ever since the attacks in Israel and the taking of hostages in October of 2023, I've seen many Christians on X/Twitter stating their support for Israel in the conflict with Hamas. I would join them in their support of Israel if Prime Minister Netanyahu had sent the IDF into Gaza to hunt Hamas and search for the hostages.

But that's not what Netanyahu did. Instead, he authorized massive, continual bombings of the Gaza Strip, mostly hitting civilian areas. Over 45,000 Gazans have been killed by the IDF, with at least 30,000 of them being women and children. And more than 1000 children have had limbs amputated.

How can Christians support the bombings? If they believe that the modern state of Israel is the fulfillment of prophesy or God's promise, how does that justify the bombings of civilians? How does their perceived fulfillment of prophesy justify bombing children?

It doesn't.

The bombing of civilians-- by any Government or entity-- is clearly contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ and contrary to the broader meaning of the Commandment against murder.

Look at the little boy in this video. He has never threatened any Israelis. He has never harmed any Israelis. And like all of the children in Gaza, he's completely innocent. Yet he's one of countless Gazans who are victims of war crimes committed by Netanyahu and the IDF.

Christians need to re-think their interpretations of what the Bible says about Israel and Jews. (Note: The Jews were God's Chosen in the Old Covenant. In the New Covenant, there is no favored people based on ethnicity or nationality. See Acts 10:34-35.

It's time for pro-Israel Christians in Western Nations to right their consciences and to start speaking out against what Netanyahu has been doing to the people of Gaza.

The killing and maiming must stop. There's no Biblical justification for it. And there's no moral justification for it. //
