Scapegoating a Generation

SCAPEGOATING A GENERATION

I don't count Tucker Carlson as an ally

Once upon a time, there was a Fox News host named Tucker Carlson. His ideas were principled and cohesive, and he expressed them well. I especially liked his opposition to stupid wars.

Fast forward to 2023.

After parting with Fox News, Carlson started Tucker on Twitter. That's when a different version of himself emerged. Some of his commentary started to lose the principle and cohesiveness typical of his time at Fox.

Since 2023, Carlson started making some rather far-fetched comments about a variety of things. A lot of people (including myself) thought Carson was going bonkers.

And instead of supporting Ron DeSantis in the campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, Carlson supported the unprincipled, erratic Donald Trump.

At that point, I was thoroughly done with Carlson.

Since then, Carlson has exposed himself as a man full of an irrational contempt for a group of people based on what years they were born (i.e.,1946 through 1964).

Know this: Just as skin color is an immutable characteristic, so too, is the date of a person's birth.

Trashing an entire generation is just as bad as trashing an entire race.

Here are some of the things Carlson has said about the Baby Boom Generation (born 1946 through 1964):

"They're repulsive. They've always been repulsive."

• Horrible people. Horrible."

• "They're disgusting."

• "I would just exclude anyone born between 1946 and 1964 from ever holding any office."

• "The whole generation is just rotten."

And talking with Piers Morgan, Tucker made this false claim:

• "The only people who support this war [i.e., Iran War, 2026] are those born between 1946 and 1964."

and this false claim:

• "But their perspective on the US and the world is very different from everyone else's-- very, very different."

With those two last statements, Carlson has slandered 62 million Americans.

Shame on him.

Some have said they would support Carlson if he ran for President.

Count me out. I will not support any candidate who scapegoats any generation. //
