Persecuting Trump

PERSECUTING TRUMP by Les Govment 36 views Some of you may have noticed that in recent months I have warmed up to Governor Ron DeSantis. At this point, amongst viable candidates, he's the best POTUS candidate, IMO. (Note: I would prefer a libertarian candidate, but candidates nominated for President by the Libertarian Party just aren't viable.) I have also stated that Trump lost me when he started trashing DeSantis and lied about conditions in Florida. Having said all of that, I find the charges against Trump and the 18 in Georgia to be troubling-- especially the RICO charges. Fulton County DA Fani Willis is really twisting the RICO statute, in my opinion. I can't read the hearts of the 18 defendants, but I expect that some of them-- like me-- were genuinely committed to stopping Democrat dominance over America. I truly believe that Democrats cheated in the 2020 presidential election. I even put up a header banner on my Twitter account stating, "Democrats Cheated."...

Gender Issues

GENDER ISSUES by Les Govment 35 views Finally!   The time has come where people are now able to openly challenge the woke-left narrative about gender issues. The first thing I’m going to challenge here is the lefty vocabulary surrounding gender issues: The Left has a history of changing the terms they use, twisting the definition of words, and inventing words. For instance, they changed “global warming” to “climate change.” They’ve twisted the definition of “woman.” And they invented new terms like “homophobe” and “transgender.” The twisting of the word “woman” to include transpersons has been a terrible disservice to females-- which has become quite obvious in girl’s/women’s sports, where biological males have had an unfair advantage over females. Natural-born females are biologically distinguished from males, and no amount of surgery or hormones can change that scientific fact. Next up: the made-up term, “transgender.” I call it a made-up term because (concerning sexual developme...

Every Child Deserves a Good Mother and Father

Image
Every Child Deserves a Good Mother and Father   by Les Govment 99 views   If you are middle-aged or older, you’ve probably noticed that the traditional, biological family isn’t as tenacious as it was in the past. Certainly, there still are good, tight-knit families in America. But families in general aren't as cohesive as families used to be.   It’s well established that the best social structure to raise a child in is the traditional, biological family. Therein, a child can experience the benefits of having both a father and a mother, and all that they can provide: sustenance, love, guidance, protection. It’s also beneficial for a child to have siblings, which gives a child a chance to experience peer relationships with adult supervision. Inevitably, such families will have conflicts within them, but life in a good family will provide experiences for a child that cultivate things like affection and respect for others, self-discipline, a sense of self-worth, and a good wo...

Gay Adoption

Image
GAY ADOPTION   All children deserve a mother and a father by Les Govment 57 views (Author’s note: My following comments on the topic of adoption aren't meant to disparage gays-- I simply support what is best for children in need of adoption. I also believe that, ordinarily, single people-- myself included-- should not be allowed to adopt children.) The American College of Pediatricians has concerns about gay parenting and is an advocate of father-and-mother parenting:   "The family environment in which children are reared plays a critical role in forming a secure gender identity, positive emotional well-being, and optimal academic achievement. Decades of social science research documents that children develop optimally when reared by their two biological parents in a low conflict marriage. The limited research advocating childrearing by same-sex parents has severe methodological limitations."   No one really knows how many children in the U.S. live in gay-led households--...

Parents Please Read This

Image
Don't Transition Your Kids by Amber Monk Parker 35 views PARENTS PLEASE READ THIS:  This is my middle daughter Hope at 3 and 18. When she was about 2.5 yrs old, she told me she wanted to be a boy. This continued in different forms until she was 12-13. She asked me once: “When am I going to grow a winkie?” (Side note: she had an older sister and brother and had seen it all as I often bathed them together!). I explained that she wouldn’t because she was a girl. She told me she wanted to tee-tee standing up so I explained how that wouldn’t work for her. Unfazed, she decided to try it! It didn’t work and life went on. She was all tomboy! She played sports and was hyper competitive. Almost all of her friends until 7th grade were boys. She only wore boy's underwear! She had to wear a dress on Sundays as we attended church and that was our rule but she often walked into her class, yanked her dress up and announced, “I’m still wearing my boy underwear.” I never argued with her about he...

Examining Transgender

Image
EXAMINING TRANSGENDER Is the word "transgender" actually a misnomer? by Les Govment authored 2018 342 views I have no reason to doubt that Gender Dysphoria is real. But being transgendered is another matter-- I do have reason to believe that being transgendered is not a biologically-based condition in most of the people who identify as trans. The commonly-claimed aspect of being transgendered is that such a person is living in the body of the opposite sex.   If being in the body of the opposite sex is biologically possible, it seems to me that it would likely involve a person’s hormonal balance essentially being reversed from what is normal for said person’s biological sex– such as a male with a really low level of testosterone or a female with a really high level of testosterone. But I have never heard a trans-person or anyone in the medical profession claim that trans-persons have a hormonal imbalance. So, what causes a person to be trans? Do transgender people actually hav...

DeSantis Has Provided Leadership

DeSantis Has Provided Leadership by Conservativa Politica 39 views I just listened to our Governor speak about our budget and the fiscal condition of our state here in Florida and several things crossed my mind as he spoke. 1. This is the smartest, most policy-wise politician I've ever heard speak since Ronald Reagan. 2. I'm going to hate to lose him as our Governor, whether that happens in 2024 when the country elects him as it's 47th President or whether in 2026 when he is term limited out as Governor. 3. Our country needs exactly the kind of fiscal leadership that Governor DeSantis has provided Florida. We have enjoyed record surpluses even with substantial tax cuts and low debt. And these surpluses have allowed us to do things other states can only dream of. 4. Those who say he can't communicate well, is a RINO or a neo-con, or think he's not qualified to be our Chief Executive simply haven't taken the time to get to know him, his record and his po...

Standing For Individual Liberty

Image
Standing For Individual Liberty by Doni 56 views     Individual liberty is the cornerstone of a free society. It is the essential component that enables us to live our lives in a manner consistent with our values, beliefs, and aspirations. But we have seen identity politics take center stage, and many have lost sight of the importance of individual liberty.   It's time to remind ourselves that individual liberty should precede identity politics. This is because identity politics is, by its very nature, a divisive force that pits one group against another. It undermines the foundations of a free society by turning our attention away from the commonalities that bind us and instead focusing on the differences that separate us. I want to encourage anyone fighting for individual liberty to keep up the excellent work. Whether you're a student, an activist, a politician, or a citizen, your efforts are essential in ensuring that we remain committed to the principles of freedom an...

Republican In Name Only

A Republican In Name Only by Les Govment revised 5-13-2023 132 views Anyone very familiar with me on Twitter is aware that I'm a fan of Rand Paul. Of people who have been in Congress, only Ron Paul comes closer to me than Rand on the issues.   Neither of the Pauls have been labeled as RINO's. Former President Donald Trump has not been labeled a RINO, either. The RINO label has mainly been reserved for the likes of people like Lindsey Graham and Mitt Romney, who definitely deserve the label. (Frankly, I think a lot of the Republicans in Congress deserve the RINO label.) I'm glad that Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton in 2016. Trump governed better than Clinton would've, and in his first 3 years, Trump governed better than I expected. He cut regulations-- which made doing business in America more attractive. His foreign policy was more restrained than his two predecessors. And he improved the line up at the Supreme Court. Then covid hit.   Instead of rejecting the nonsens...

Heartbeats and Brainwaves

HEARTBEATS AND BRAINWAVES Protecting the unborn as best we can   by Les Govment authored 2021 178 views                                                     Throughout my adult years, I have written dozens of letters-to-the-editor that were published in newspapers, and several op-eds that were published, as well. As I recall, I wrote about abortion only once. My reasons for not writing much about abortion years ago were threefold: First, my beliefs about abortion fluctuated through my 20's and 30's. Secondly, being male and single, I expected that I was never going to have to face the issue of abortion in my personal life-- so I felt that whatever I believed about abortion wasn't very important. Finally, I felt that babies that got aborted were probably better off than if they were born into situations where they were so unwanted. For the record, I h...

Left's Authoritarian Slippery Slope

Image
THE LEFT'S AUTHORITARIAN SLIPPERY-SLOPE Many on the left have become quite intolerant authored August-December 2016 by Les Govment   580 views Educators and historians typically classify Nazism as being politically on the right, often labeling it "far right." That's no surprise, since most educators are on the political left. As for the politics of historians, I think it's safe to say it's likely that a sizable portion of historians are also left-of-center. Given the groupthink that dominates the politically-engaged left, it would be quite difficult to find an American progressive who wouldn't adamantly insist that Nazism should retain its right-wing classification. That classification has become old and worn out, unsound and outdated. I'm glad to see that many people have come to see that the Nazis were not conservatives. Since "conservative" and "right-wing" are basically synonyms, it's illogical to categorize Nazism as right-...

Terrible Terms of Service

TERRIBLE TERMS OF SERVICE Why I'm not on GETTR by Les Govment 63 views Recently, a huge number of people started accounts on GETTR, which was founded by former Trump aide, Jason Miller. Many of my Twitter follows were among those who started accounts early in January 2022. So, naturally, I wanted to start a GETTR account of my own. Here's why I haven't, thus far. I went to GETTR's website and cruised though their Terms of Use. To make a long story short, it was the most complicated terms of use/service for social media I've ever seen. I haven't done a word count on their Terms, but it must be at least twice as long as Twitter's TOS. Like many websites, GETTR's Terms includes an Indemnity section (you, know, that section where you agree to pay for damages from some mystical, inadvertent act on your part or by some third party). GETTR's Indemnity section is about as bad as any I've ever read. Ditto for Trump's Truth Social. It is unreasonable f...

The Left is the Real Problem

THE LEFT IS THE REAL PROBLEM Generational blaming won't fix anything by Les Govment 33 views Generational labels have never meant much to me. Heck, I went through nearly 4 decades of adulthood oblivious to the fact that I was born in a year that is considered part of the Baby Boom years. I always thought that Baby Boomers were folks born about 5-15 years before me. And I feel like I probably have more in common with older Gen X-ers than with older Boomers. Having disclosed all of that, I have to ask: Why should generational labels even matter to anyone? The stereotype of a generation doesn't apply to the whole generation, or even a majority of it. I've been watching Lauren Southern's videos since 2017. She's insightful, articulate and wise beyond her age. When I started my Twitter account in 2018, Lauren was the first person I "followed." In her thoughtful video, Why Young People Won't Work , Lauren admirably held out an olive branch to Baby Boomers. S...

Disgraces During Covid

DISGRACES OF THE PAST TWO YEARS I don't recognize many western countries A thread of tweets by Alex Jenkins, Feb. 2022 84 views I've been thinking about this the past night or so. With the way we've been going in what are supposed to be Western, liberal, constitutional democracies over the past 2 years, how can we really prove that we are morally superior to awful regimes like the People's Republic of China, Russia, etc.? Especially when we have Canada seizing bank accounts merely suspected to have taken part in the truckers' protests. So many countries in Europe (and other places) are turning people into second class citizens over whether they've had the vaccine or not. And among other disgraces over the past 2 years, businesses have been shut down or severely restricted in how they operate on what could only be described as the shakiest of evidence. How can the West regain moral superiority? Quite often, I don't recognize many western countries-- especiall...
